Domina Running Experience is approaching!
If you still don’t know what we’re talking about, hurry up and read our bulletin.
The DRE is not just a week of training along the beach. On the third day of the week, we are scheduled to climb Mount Sinai (2,285 m asl) from the monastery of St Catherine (1,585 m asl).
Mount Sinai and its monastery are very famous historical sites, a pilgrimage destination for many. Besides its religious significance, the monastery in question is one of the oldest still active monasteries in the world, with more than 1400 years of history. Founded at the behest of the Byzantine emperor Justinian, the monastery was built to protect the sacred site where, according to Christian tradition, the Burning Bush was located, through which God spoke to Moses.
Currently, the ascent has already been attempted by one of the PWT’s top athletes, as well as a world-class orienteer until recently. We are talking about Riccardo Scalet, who for the past year or so has decided to take time off from international commitments. In this article you can read about his performance in November 2020: his time was worth a world record! A good 35’17’ to cover 5 km with 790 metres of elevation gain.
Can you beat his time?
